A 37-year-old Dotito man was fatally struck with a brick on the head by a fellow villager after he refused to share opaque beer with him on Monday.
Acting Mashonaland Central provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ordain Mhundwa confirmed the incident.
He identified the deceased as Trymore Matumira of Kamundachi Village under Chief Dotito.
Asst Insp Mhundwa said they had since arrested Jaji Chakanyiwa (35) of the same village in connection with the murder.
On the day in question at around 11pm, Matumira was drinking opaque beer at a local bottle store when he was approached by Chakanyiwa who asked him if they could share a drink.
Matumira refused to share his beer with Chakanyiwa .
This did not go down well with Chakanyiwa who picked a brick and struck Matumira on the head, resulting in him sustaining severe injuries.
After the assault, Matumira went to Dotito Police Station and reported the matter which led to Chakanyiwa's arrest.
Matumira was taken to Karanda Mission Hospital for treatment where he later died and his body was taken to Mt Darwin Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, a 31-year-old Muzarabani man committed suicide on Tuesday by drinking a pesticide after accusing his wife of having an extra marital affair.
Asst Insp Mhundwa identified the deceased as Private Musona of Kandi Village under Chief Kasekete.
It is alleged that on April 28 Musona started accusing his wife Rumbidzai JoJo (28) of having an extra marital affair which resulted in him assaulting her with fists and kicks all over the body.
The following day, Musona allegedly bought a bottle of temeron pesticide and drank it at his homestead.
He proceeded to the room where Jojo and his cousin Webster Sakala (35) were sitting and told them that he had doused the pesticide before he collapsed and died on the spot.
