THE wife of a Victoria Falls loan shark has been arraigned before the courts for assaulting a woman who owed her husband money at a church meeting.

Sharon Gambara, 23, of Number 74 Dura Wall in Victoria Falls, is now being charged with assault for beating up Vester Chimidzi of Mkhosana for failure to pay isimbazo she owed.

Chimidzi's husband Ngonidzashe Dzumbunu had borrowed some money from Gambara's husband, a known loan shark in Victoria Falls.

Gambara also faces an additional charge of theft after she allegedly went to Chimidzi's place of residence intending to collect the money but sneaked into the couple's bedroom and stole $255 from the wardrobe.

She is denying both charges before Victoria Falls resident magistrate Sharon Rosemani, who remanded her out of custody to May 29 for start of trial.

In November 2013, it is said, Gambara and Chimidzi were at a church crusade at Mkhosana Township when the accused approached the complainant and inquired about her husband's whereabouts.

Prosecutors say Gambara was infuriated when Chimidzi told her she didn't know where her husband was and began to poke her on the head.

It is alleged that she grabbed her by her clothes and dragged her around in full view of other church members as she assaulted her.

On the charge of theft, Gambara allegedly two days later went to Chimidzi's house in the evening and while Dzumbunu went to the toilet, she remained alone in a room and allegedly searched a blazer which was in a wardrobe and stole $255.

Dzumbunu and his wife Chimidzi reported the matter to the police and nothing was recovered. Listen Nare is representing the State.
