Zanu PF official nabbed for theft, assault

CHITUNGWIZA - Zanu PF councillor for Zengeza Ward 7, Charamba Mlambo (30), yesterday appeared in court with two others on allegations of stealing property worth $960 from a Chitungwiza man before assaulting him.
Mlambo, Knowledge Zuze (30) and Henry Mupembamoto (30) appeared before magistrate Lazarus Murendo for allegedly stealing asbestos, wooden boards, wall plates, wooden poles and angle lines from Knocks Charakupa (60).
The court heard that on March 24, the trio being led by Mlambo went to Macheka grounds car park in St Mary's and chased away people who were present including the owner, Charakupa.
The accused persons wanted to forcefully take the car park from Charakupa, who has been running it since 1999.
The trio then allegedly assaulted Charakupa with fists and open hands.
After the people had ran away, the accused persons allegedly stole 10 asbestos sheets, 6×4 square tubes, 5×2 wooden boards, 12×3 iron sheets, 4×5 iron sheets, 5 round wooden poles and 30 angle lines.
Charakupa reported the matter to police, leading to their arrest.
The matter was postponed to May 16 for trial.
Prosecutor Tendai Mukariri appeared for the State.
