The Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe will soon embark on a programme to put reflective ear-tags on domestic animals owned by people living along the country's major roads to reduce the number of accidents involving animals.

Accidents involving stray animals contribute significantly to the number of accidents in the country and these are mostly prevalent in Matabeleland and Manicaland provinces.

According to TSCZ, stray animals were responsible for most accidents in the Nyamaropa area of Nyanga, where vehicle animal collisions were most prevalent, followed by Beitbridge in Matabeleland South where traffic involving animals were a result of unattended donkeys and cattle.
