Dispute over chicken portions ends in tragedy

A DISPUTE over chicken portions ended in tragedy after a Chipinge man fatally stabbed his brother recently.

Police confirmed the incident which happened in Chief Garahwa's area of Chisumbanje.

Chipinge District police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Blessing Kadzuraumera revealed that Robert Khumbula was arrested for allegedly murdering his brother.

The two were drinking beer at a bottle store in Chisumbanje where a dispute arose over the ownership of chicken cuts. Robert pushed and shoved his brother Mind. He then produced a knife and stabbed Mind once in the stomach.

Mind sustained a deep wound on the stomach and was rushed to Chiredzi District Hospital. He was further transferred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in Harare where he died last Friday.

Asst Insp Kadzuraumera said Robert was arrested, but the knife he allegedly used to commit the offence was not recovered.

"We are urging people to solve their differences amicably or even approach traditional and church leaders for counselling," said Asst Insp Kadzuraumera.
