MUTARE businessman Nyikadzino Takaendesa, popularly known as Nyika, will live to regret dating a 17-year-old girl after he was recently caught and thoroughly beaten by the teenager's father.
Nyika, who runs a petroleum company Fashu, is said to have taken Pension "Master Payee" Gwinyai's 17-year-old daughter from a funeral wake in Sakubva near her home.
Nyika is said to have managed to get access to the 17-year-old with the help of Gwinyai's close friend, Rochford Muyambo.
However, the two lovebirds ran out of luck and were spotted by the girl's father at Chigomba Business Centre as they made their way to town from Sakubva.
Nyika allegedly instructed the girl to hide under his car in a desperate effort to avoid being seen by her father. He disembarked from his car and tried in vain to stop Gwinyai from coming close to his vehicle. Suddenly, Nyika was allegedly mobbed by several ghetto youths who started assaulting him. When Muyambo got wind of Nyika's assault, he rushed to the scene to help solve the issue amicably, but an irate Gwinyai would have none of it and went on to punch Muyambo on the cheek.
Police confirmed that Muyambo reported the case to police, but later withdrew the charges.
"Yes, Muyambo reported the matter at Chisamba Police Station in Sakubva, but later withdrew the charges. We understand they are friends," said acting Manicaland police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Clean Muzondiwa.
Gwinyai also confirmed having had an altercation with Nyika and Muyambo over the former's alleged affair with his teenage daughter.
"Master, how can my close friend Rochie betray me like that? I understand he was the go-between between my daughter and Nyika and I am still bitter about the two's conduct," said Gwinyai. When contacted for comment, Nyika denied all allegations.
Ironically, he went on to say he had discussed the issue with another Manica Post staffer who promised to "assist" him in having the story dropped.
"Nothing like that happened. I am not in town at the moment. I will come and see you when I come back to Mutare, but I talked to your workmate about the issue," he said.
Muyambo was not reachable for comment.
