Zim's 2012 population census final figures out

Zimbabwe has a total population of 13 061 239 people up from 11 634 663 in 2002, according to the Zimbabwe National Statistical Agency's 2012 Census final report.
The breakdown amongst the provinces is as follows: Harare has a total population of 2 123 132. There were 1 025 596 males in the capital city and 1 097 536 females.
Approximately 34 percent of this figure was under 15 years of age while 64 percent were between 15 and 64 years. Those aged above 65 were only 2 percent of the total population. Manicaland had 1 752 698 people in total.
The female population stood at 922 001 and males at 830 697. Those under the age of 15 in Manicaland stood at 44 percent while the majority of 63 percent were aged between 15 and 64. Three percent were above 65 years of age.
Bulawayo Metropolitan Province has 653 337 people of which 303 346 are male and 349 991 are female. Those aged between 15 and 64 account for 62 percent of the population while 34 percent and 4 percent are accounted for by those aged below 15 and those above 65 respectively.
The Midlands province has 1 614 941 people. Men in the region are 776 787 while there are 838 154 women. Forty three percent of the province is aged below 15 while 4 percent in above 65 years of age. Those aged between 15 and 64 account for 53 percent of the total figure. Matabeleland North province has a total population of 749 017 and 44 percent of this is aged below 15 while 51 percent is between 15 and 64.
Five percent is accounted for by those above 65 years.
There are 360 776 men and 388 241 women in the province. On the other hand, a total of 683 893 people are living in the a Matabeleland South province of which 326 697 are male and 356 926 are female.
Those above the age of 65 accounted for 6 percent of the total population while 51 percent are aged between 15 and 64 and 43 percent represent those below 15 years of age.
In Mashonaland central, 1 152 520 people were recorded. Females are 585 380 and men 567 140. In terms of the age of the populace, 53 percent was accounted for by those between 15 and 64 while 43 percent represents those below 15 years. Only 4 percent of the population is above 65 years of age in the province.
Mashonaland East has 1 344 955 people with 693 174 women and 651 781 men. Five percent of that population is above 65 years while 42 and 53 percent represent those below 15 and those between 15 and 64 years of age respectively.
The report also indicated that 1 501 656 people live in Mashonaland West province. Of this figure, 747 475 people are male while 754 181 are female.
Those below 15 years of age account for 41 percent of the population while the middle aged account for 53 percent and those above 65 years of age are only 5 percent.
The province of Masvingo has 1 485 090 people. The figure for men living in the province is 697 992 and women are 787 098.
Those below the age of 15 represent 45 percent of the population while 49,8 percent are between 15 and 64 and 5,2 percent above 65 years.
