THREE MDC-T members who are wanted by police in connection with the murder of Inspector Petros Mutedza have been smuggled out of the country, it has been learnt.
It is understood that Robert Manyengavana, Tendai Mutsvaka Muchekahanzu and Solomon Madzore were recently smuggled to South Africa. The Criminal Investigation Department confirmed that the three MDC-T members "are still at large".
Manyengavana was the MDC-T youth secretary for Harare, Muchekahanzu was the party's youth chairman for Mufakose while Madzore was the party's national youth chairman.
State controlled Sunday Mail says highly placed MDC-T sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the three were taken out of the country about two weeks ago and used illegal means to get into SA via Beitbridge.
"What I can tell you is that those guys are now in South Africa. They were taken there about two weeks ago. We think the police are being unfair on this matter and the party took a decision to take them to South Africa. As for what they are doing there, it's none of your paper's business," said the MDC-T source.
MDC-T spokesperson Mr Douglas Mwonzora said his party was receiving the news that these three members were wanted by police.
