Public expresses dismay over negligent drivers

The public has called on authorities to take stern action against commuter omnibus drivers who operate without requisite qualifications following the Seke road accident which claimed 10 lives.
Public anger is pouring out over the unnecessary loss of human life on the roads due to negligence by transport operators.
Some operators willfully disobey legal stipulations which they are required to meet before putting vehicles on the road.
According to ZBC a cross section of people have expressed dismay about reckless drivers operating without proper documents.
"These drivers just bribe police officers at roadblocks with a few dollars and are allowed to go," said one Harare resident.
"It is so painful to lose people on the country's roads due to negligence. Something must be done," said another.
Commuter omnibus drivers defended themselves saying it is only a few misfits in their midst operating illegally.
Road accidents have become a menace with the major causes being negligent driving and defective vehicles.
Police have indicated that the owner of the commuter omnibus involved in the Seke road accident faces arrest after he employed a person who was not qualified to drive public service vehicle.
