A jilted Domboshawa traditional healer is on the run after allegedly conniving with his nephew to fake his death in a bid to lure back his wife who had deserted him for another man.
Police officers who went to collect the "corpse" were shocked to discover the traditional healer sitting in his hut and claiming to have risen from the dead.
It is believed the nephew, Ezekiel Manongwa, reported to officers at Chinamhora Police Station that his uncle, Paul Mbisa (41), had taken some poison and died.
Manongwa is also said to have sought authorisation to ferry the corpse to Mbisa's in-laws who live in Chiweshe.
The officers accompanied Manongwa back to Mbisa's home, intending to collect the body. They were, however, shocked to find the "dead man" alive.
Upon interrogation, Mbisa claimed to have resurrected so that he could guide his relatives on his burial.
He gave strict instructions that he wanted to see his wife first before his burial in Chiweshe.
Police investigations have since concluded that the traditional healer faked death to lure his wife back home.
The two are being charged with making a false report.
It is alleged that Mbisa has since fled the area.
Manongwa was still at large. Mashonaland East police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Norbert Muzondo confirmed the case.
