ZBC TV, Television with no sound

Viewers of ZBC TV's channel 2 are up in arms against the national broadcaster's Channel 2 which has had very low or no audio for the last two years.

Viewers who spoke to Bulawayo24 News claim that the television channel which is only viewed in the country's major cities has been running with no audio since 2012 and all their complaints to the national broadcaster have fallen on deaf ears.

ZBC has two TV channels ZBC TV and Channel 2 all operated by the broadcaster from its Pockets Hill studio in Harare. ZBC TV which is meant to cover the whole country is only received in urban set ups while Channel 2 which has been a privy for Harare viewers only for years only recently opened up to other major cities but the channel only show pictures with very low audio or at times with no audio at all.

The viewers who claim that they can not afford to pay Multichoice's DSTV find themselves with no option but to watch ZBC TV. The viewers complain of poor programming on ZBC TV which is mostly ruling party propaganda and very old kung fu movies.

Channel 2 which according to viewers is a better choice as it runs South Africa based ETV programmes but there is no sound coming through. A viewer who spoke to Bulawayo24 News says that he has been complaining to ZBC about the issue for the last two years and no help seems to be coming through.

"I have spoken to a Mr Simango from ZBC TV more than a hundred times and every time he keeps saying the problem is being attended to. At one moment he says the problem is not with ZBC but transmedia, but really two years to fix a problem of sound on TV?," said the viewer from Bulawayo.

Another viewer wrote to Bulawayo24 News's whatsapp platform;

"Hey, there is this second channel(BBZ) on our national TV, it has lost volume since last year and it has never been rectified. May you please help us get this problem solved, because l really like the programmes of this channel but without audio its not so entertaining. I sincerely ask you guys to help us. Thanx"

When contacted for a comment a lady at ZBC TV who answered the phone refusing to give her name said that the issue of channel 2 audio is being sorted out and will rectified soon. Asked how soon the "soon" is she said she would not have an answer to that.

"I can not say how soon that will be but I can tell you we are aware of the issue and its being addressed, please be patient," said the lady.
