Popular sungura musician, Alick Macheso Friday complied with the civil court ruling and paid $1 030 to his estranged second wife Fortunate Tafadzwa Mapako.

Two weeks ago, Harare civil court magistrate, Tafadzwa Muvhami ordered Macheso to pay $1 030 to Mapako for her upkeep and the couple's two minor children with effect from May 31 2014.

Mapako had earlier demanded that Macheso pay a maintenance claim of $7 130.

She has since applied to the High Court seeking a review of the civil court's verdict.

Macheso's lawyer, Norman Mugiya told The Zimbabwe Mail that his client had decided to comply with the court ruling as he was a law abiding citizen.

"Macheso has complied with the civil court ruling and paid $1 030 to Mapako, a gesture which shows that he respects the court's ruling as a law-abiding citizen. We will however be responding to Mapako's appeal at the High Court where she is demanding $7 130 in maintenance, once she gives us a breakdown of the claim," said Mugiya.

It is alleged that problems that led the two to divorce, according to Mapako, began late last year when Macheso allegedly inserted his manhood into his sick child, saying that would heal fontanelle  (nhova/ inkanda) problem.

Macheso is alleged to have claimed that it was a traditional rite.

However, Macheso is denying these claims saying they are mere fabrications meant to tarnish and destroy his musical career.

Mapako also alleged that since December 2013, Macheso had been neglecting her and the two minor children.

Macheso has since denied neglecting the family.

Mapako and Macheso are currently embroiled in a DNA saga meant to determine the paternity of the two minor children.
