Armed robber shot dead by cops

Police in Mutare have shot and killed a male adult in Ferni Valley in Mutare in a shootout incident.
Manicaland police spokesperson, Inspector Enock Chishiri said the incident occurred at Number 8 North Drive around 2300 hours on Friday.
He said police details received information from the owner at the house that there were armed robbers at his home.
Inspector Chishiri said police officers arrived at the house and an adult aged 36 emerged from the darkness with a firearm pointing at the unsuspecting law enforcement agents.
He said the man suddenly charged at the officers accusing them of being armed robbers.
Inspector Chishiri said efforts to force him to surrender the firearm in line with police guidelines were fruitless and a shootout ensued.
The man was shot and died on the spot.
He said police are still investigating the case and the name of the deceased is being withheld until the next of keen have been informed.
