MDC-T Harare provincial spokesperson Obert Gutu has said the attack on the shrine of Johane Masowe weChishanu leader Madzibaba Ishmaea Mufani's apostolic sect by Zanu PF youths shows how the police has become an extension of the ruling party.

The Zanu PF youths attacked the shrine on Monday destroying on site in retaliation to attacks on the police by members of the church last Thursday.

"So the Zimbabwe Republic Police ( ZRP) have found it fit and proper to sub-contract and hire a bunch of Zanu PF hooligans, thugs and hoodlums to deal with the Johane Masowe weChishanu leader Madzibaba Ishmaea Mufani's apostolic sect?

"This is what you get when an otherwise professional and efficient national police force has been virtually privatized into an armed militia of a political organization and increasingly unpopular and rabidly corrupt government," Gutu said.

"So why didn't the relevant authorities approach the courts of law seeking an urgent and appropriate court order to deal with Madzibaba Ishamea Mufani's apostolic sect?

"Who, exactly, is one Johannes Ndanga to enable him to operate as a warlord who enforces " justice" upon all and sundry?

"Surely, something has got to give. We cannot continue to operate as a banana republic."
