A 42-YEAR-OLD Masvingo prosecutor found himself in the dock facing two counts of raping his eight-year-old stepdaughter.
The accused, a police prosecutor who was attached at the courts, appeared before magistrate Sibonginkosi Mkandla.
The cop, who was represented by Frank Chirairo of Saratoga Makause Law Firm, pleaded not guilty to the charges. Charges against the prosecutor were that sometime in April, he allegedly forced himself on the minor while her wife was away on business trips.
State counsel James Murambiza told the court that in the first instance, the prosecutor, who was left alone with the minor, allegedly called her to his bedroom and ordered her to lie facing upwards on his bed and undressed and raped her once.
0n another date during the same month, Murambiza further alleged that the accused again forced himself on his step-daughter.
The alleged offence came to light after the minor narrated her ordeal to her grandmother during a visit last month, leading to his arrest.
A medical report produced in court confirmed penetration.
The prosecutor was remanded to June 16 on $100 bail.
He is not new to controversy after he was earlier this year brought to court facing charges of receiving a R900 bribe to facilitate the release of a man facing domestic violence charges.
Tandirai was, however, acquitted of the charge after the complainant shifted goalposts in court.
