Lawyer and MDC-T Harare provincial spokesperson Obert Gutu has condemned the arrest of raunchy dancer Berverly Sibanda popularly known as Bev on Tuesday over alleged breach of the Censorship and Entertainment Control Act.
Bev was also accused of violating terms of her dancing licence after her performance at the Harare international Carnival's Samba Night where she invited patrons on stage and performed sexual acts at the Airport Lounge.
But Gutu said the arrest smacks of sickening double standards on the part of the police.
"I have absolutely no brief for one Beverly "Bev" Sibanda, but I think her arrest yesterday smacks of sickening double standards and fakeness on the part of our justice delivery system," Gutu posted on his Facebook wall.
"How come the man( or is it men), with whom she allegedly performed the sexually explicit acts have not been arrested?
"And what do we say about the organizers of this so- called Harare International Carnival where semi-nude women were being paraded along the streets of Harare in broad day light?
"And what are the various women's organizations in Zimbabwe saying about Beverly Sibanda's arrest?
"Where is the justice? Where is the fairness? and where are the gender activists?"
