A WOMAN from Chombe 3 village in Kariangwe, Binga, pulled her brother-in-law's private parts when he attempted to rape her in a bushy area in the village.
The man is the younger brother of the woman's husband.
The woman tightly held the suspect's organ while shouting for help drawing the attention of passers-by who came to her rescue.
The man yesterday stunned the court when he said his organ troubled him and forced him to commit the offence.
"My manhood is giving me problems. It forced me to commit the offence," the man said.
He pleaded guilty to attempted rape when he appeared before Binga resident magistrate Stephen Ndlovu and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Six months of the sentence were suspended for five years while the other 12 months were suspended on condition that he performed 420 hours of community service at Siansale Primary School.
Prosecutor Lovemore Siamunda told the court that on May 24 at around 1pm, the 37-year-old woman was in the bushy area when her husband's 20-year-old younger brother sneaked on her from behind and tripped her to the ground.
He ripped off her skirt and panties before trying to rape her. It was the State's case that the woman prevented the intended act by holding tightly the suspect's erect organ while shouting for help.
The woman's wailing drew the attention of passers-by who came to her rescue at which time the suspect managed to free himself from the tight grip and flee into the bush.
A report was made to the police, leading to the arrest of the woman's brother-in-law.
