Woman defends HIV+ hubby who raped disabled six-year-old daughter

A woman from Gweru, Zimbabwe, has shocked the local community after she defended her husband who allegedly raped her disabled six-year-old daughter in a suspected ritual practice and in a bid to  protect her marriage.

The six-year-old girl, who was disabled from birth but had slightly improved due to physiotherapy at Mpilo Hospital in Bulawayo, was allegedly raped by her HIV positive father in the presence of the mother.

The girl had been staying with her grandmother since she was seven months old, but on the fateful day, the mother took her, saying her father wanted to see his daughter.

The rape incident only came to light when the girl's grandmother was bathing her.

The girl's mother however insists her husband is innocent.

She defended her husband saying he could not have committed such a crime.

The grandmother is however worried not only about the six-year-old as she claims her other grandchildren have mysteriously disappeared with no satisfactory answer coming from the woman, who is her daughter.

Sadly for the girl, her grandmother has run out of money to continue taking her for physiotherapy in Bulawayo.

Meanwhile, the alleged perpetrator of the rape, who is in remand prison, is expected to appear in court next week.
