A MAN from Chipinge is on the run after he badly injured his friend by hitting him with a stone several times on the head following an altercation over a DVD player.
Timothy Sailor is in a critical condition after he was struck by Utowani Chinyamukwakwa who fled after committing the crime. Chipinge District police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector BlessingcKadzuraumera, said the incident happened at Munepasi Village under Chief Garahwa.
"On May 28 at around 5pm, the two were drinking beer at Munepasi Township. An altercation arose between them over the issue of the DVD player Timothy had sold to Utowani a week before. Utowani alleged that Timothy had sold him a broken down DVD player and he intended to bring it back and get his money back. Utowani got angry in the process and picked up a stone from the ground and hit Timothy on the face several times. He left him in a pool of blood and fled.
"Well wishers took Timothy to St Peter's Mission Hospital where his condition was reported to be critical. He is unable to speak," he said.
