Man (57) rapes niece (14)

A 57-YEAR-OLD Chipinge man was arrested on allegations of raping his niece (14) who was helping him wash dirty plates.
Police said the incident happened at Plot Number 11, Clearwater.
"Allegations are that Lyman Sithole raped the girl on June 2. He went to the complainant's house and asked her to assist him wash his plates.
"The girl asked for permission from her mother who allowed her to go in the company of her eight-year-old sister. The two washed the plates and then cooked rice which they ate with their uncle at his homestead," said Chipinge District spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Blessing Kadzuraumera.
At around 8pm, the mother came and took the young sister home leaving the 14-year-old girl behind who then went to sleep in the spare bedroom.
The suspect went to sleep in the main bedroom.
"It is alleged that at around 8.30pm, Sithole got up and went into the teenagers' room and switched off the lights. He went on to remove the girls clothes and raped her once.
"The girl remained at the house for the night and went home tomorrow in the morning."
When she arrived at home she kept quite but later revealed what had happened to her mother.
The matter was reported to the police.
