Zimbabwe police officer dies in Uganda

A senior police officer with the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Vengai Tomukai has died after succumbing to a short illness while receiving medical attention at Nakasere Hospital in Uganda.

Tomukai (56) died on June 8.

The senior police officer was on a peacekeeping mission with the United Nations Mission International assignment as a police advisor to the South Sudanese National police service since August 2013.

He was the Traffic Coordinator for Manicaland Province at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife Rumbidzai Chatimba, eight children and four grand children.

The late Superintendent Tomukai will be buried in Zaka, chief Bota in Masvingo on June 13.

Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba confirmed the untimely death of the senior police officer.
