Mugabe, Iranian VP discuss bilateral cooperation

Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe and Iranian First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri met Saturday to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral relations and how Harare and Teheran could work together in the global arena.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the summit of the Group of 77 developing countries plus China that started Saturday in the Bolivian capital Santa Cruz.
According to reports monitored here, the two leaders agreed on the need for both Tehran and Harare to pave the ground for the promotion of stronger bilateral ties.
Ties between Iran and Zimbabwe have strengthened during the past few years as both countries battle Western-imposed sanctions on their governments.
Iran has since 2000 assisted Zimbabwe develop its capacity in the areas of health, broadcasting and energy.
