MDC-T move to interdict Biti from Tsvangirai

The opposition MDC is moving to block attempts by ex-secretary-general Tendai Biti to haul its leader Morgan Tsvangirai before a disciplinary hearing by filing an interdict with the High Court today.
Biti's renewal team wants to drag Tsvangirai before its disciplinary committee following his reported controversial suspension from the MDC in April.
Tsvangirai has since dismissed the meeting that suspended him as "illegal, unconstitutional, illegitimate and bogus".
MDC-T spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora told the Daily News that the party had resolved at its Standing committee meeting held at Harvest House yesterday, to file court papers to interdict Biti and company.
"We will be filing the papers tomorrow (today) because the party feels that our leader cannot be debased and be subjected to a disciplinary hearing by another political party," Mwonzora told the Daily News.
An initial attempt by the Biti faction to conduct the hearing last week flopped after one of the lawyers initially cited as part of the tribunal angrily distanced himself from the "charade", forcing the team to postpone the hearing indefinitely.
Lawyer Dumisani Mthombeni took great exception to the Biti faction's attempt to drag his name into the hearing without consulting him.
The other lawyers who are set to conduct the envisaged Tsvangirai hearing are Tafadzwa Mugabe and Gift Nyandoro.
