Boss rapes subordinate, infects her with HIV

A 25-year-old woman is now jobless and without a husband following a rape attack that robbed her of virg•nity and left her HIV positive.

The Harare Magistrates' Court heard yesterday that the woman, who was employed as a security guard, was raped on several occasions by her supervisor as part of blackmail and was also infected with the virus.

When her husband discovered that the woman was HIV positive, it is alleged he sent her packing since he had tested negative.

Baltmore Mudhivhare (48), who is employed as a security guard at a local hospital, yesterday appeared before Donald Ndirowei charged with rape and deliberate transmission of  HIV.

He was remanded in custody to July 10 with instructions to apply for bail at the High Court due to the seriousness of the offence.
