Police have shot dead two robbers and arrested two others after they robbed a Norton company of $26000.
The two robbers, who were being tracked by detectives from the CID Homicide after a tip-off from the public, robbed a Norton company of $26000 and sped off in a Toyota Spacio.
A car chase then ensued and when the robbers would not stop, police fired at them, resulting in the Toyota Spacio crashing on a concrete electricity pylon.
It is not clear whether both died from gun wounds or from the accident.
When the newscrew arrived, people were still milling around the scene but the bodies had been taken to Norton General Hospital mortuary.
According to Police National Spokesperson, Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba, indications are that the robbery was masterminded by the robber who once worked at the company as he knew pay dates and the movement of cash.
She called on members of the public to keep working hand in glove with the police to weed out criminals.
In January this year, two armed robbers were shot dead by police after exchanging gunfire with the law enforcement authorities.
Meanwhile, the two arrested are in police custody and will appear in court soon.
