Man kills woman to settle $6,50 debt

A 23-year-old Glen View man has been convicted of murder with actual intent after he fatally stabbed a female resident in a bid to steal her personal items and raise $6,50 to settle a debt.

Sinsamala Chinsi is now awaiting a ruling on his submissions on extenuating circumstances meant to persuade High Court judge Justice Chinembiri Bhunu to spare him from capital punishment.

Justice Bhunu heard that Chinsi stabbed Jean Chinounda using a kitchen knife on January 31 last year and killed her instantly.

The matter was yesterday postponed indefinitely.
