Mugabe promotes senior army officers

President Robert Mugabe has promoted nine lieutenant colonels to the substantive rank of colonel.
The nine colonels were promoted in terms of Section 15 Sub-section 1(b) of the Defence Act.
Conferring the ranks to the colonels, Chief of Staff Administration Major General Trust Mugoba said the promotions were a result of hard work and dedication to duty.
"The promotion came after the assessment of your work," said Major General Mugoba.
Colonel Tendai Makavi who was the only female candidate to be promoted said she is greatly honoured to represent her female counterparts in a male dominated class and urged other women to be courageous enough to face any given task.
"I am happy to be the only female candidate," Colonel Makavi said.
Colonel Charles Mashava who was also promoted said he will work hard to meet the demanding standards that the new rank is bound to bring.
"I always do the best I can to attain positive results," said Colonel Mashava.
The other newly promoted colonels are George Chitsva, Washington Chidawanyika, Shadreck Vezha, Joshua Chikanga, Beaven Masinga, Ernest Shamu and Simo Maseko.
