A KWEKWE woman got the shock of her life when she caught her husband's friend red-handed sodomising their eight-year-old son behind her house while purporting to be teaching him push-up exercises.
The friend, Elvis Hayter (32) of Msasa Park low-density suburb in Kwekwe, lured the boy behind the house where he allegedly sodomised him before he was caught in the act by the boy's mother after she got a tip-off from the boy's sister who had witnessed the heinous act.
Hayter was on Wednesday slapped with an 18-year jail sentence after he was found guilty of the offence when he appeared before Gokwe-Kwekwe regional magistrate, Mr Amos Mbobo facing sodomy charges.
Hayter, who had pleaded not guilty, was convicted and sentenced to 18 years, two of which were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
The State's case was that Hayter was caught red-handed sodomising his friend's son behind the boy's parents' house by the boy's mother.
On 9 March Hayter went to the complainant's house looking for the boy's father but was informed that he had gone out and would return after a while.
The boy was in the company of his sister and mother.
Hayter, the court heard, then asked the boy to accompany him behind the house so that they would do some push-ups while waiting for his father.
When the two got behind the house, the court also heard that Hayter forcibly removed the boy pants and sodomised him.
Luck, however, ran out for him when he was spotted by the boy's sister who witnessed the evil act through the window and went on to inform their mother.
Hayter was then caught pants down by the boy's mother who then reported to the police leading to his arrest.
Mr Robert Ndlala represented the State.
