Soldier fatally assaults 'cheating' girlfriend

TAURAI Makoza, a soldier based at İnkomo Barracks located on the outskirts of Harare, appeared at Chinhoyi Magistrates' Courts last Friday facing a murder charge.

Makoza (28) is alleged to have fatally assaulted his long-time girlfriend Rossa Roki (48) using a waist belt after he found her being intimate with another man in her bedroom.

The spine-chilling incident allegedly occurred last Monday at Paguta Farm, between Mapinga and Banket.

A post-mortem report attached to the court records indicate that the woman had "multiple stab wounds" believed to have been caused by a sharp object.

But in his defence, Makoza admitted the assault charge, but said she could have died of other causes as she was a "tuberculosis and HİV patient".

Magistrate Felix Mawade remanded him in custody to July 17.
