A MUREHWA man will spend the next 99 years in prison after he was convicted of cattle rustling by a Buhera magistrate.
Magistrate Mr Henry Sande had initially sentenced Fabion Nyamayedenga (40) to 189 years in jail for 22 counts, but suspended the other years. Nyamayedenga had been stealing in Mashonaland East province since October 2009. He was charged together with Murehwa businessman Searchmore Muvirimi (35).
Muvirimi was acquitted of the charges. Prosecutor Mr Jonathan Marufu said when Nyamayedenga discovered that he was being sought by the police in connection with the issue, he fled from Murehwa to Buhera, but was nabbed by detectives early this year.
Nyamayedenga pleaded guilty to 22 counts he was facing, but was acquitted on one of them. He was sentenced to nine years for each count of stock theft he faced.
