The appointment of two Zimbabwean legislators to head and deputise committees in the SADC Parliamentary Forum has been described as the region's vote of confidence in the country's law makers.

Speaker of the National Assembly, Advocate Jacob Mudenda hailed the election of Monica Mutsvangwa to chair the Gender, Women's Advancement and Youth Empowerment Sub-Committee and Dr Samuel Mukanduri to be the Deputy Chairperson of the Standing Committee-Democratic Governance and Human Rights.

Mutsvangwa said she is humbled by the position of responsibility bestowed upon her by fellow legislators from SADC member states and pledged to continue lobbying for the empowerment of women and youths.

Five members of parliament, led by Advocate Mudenda recently attended the 35th Plenary Assembly of the SADC Parliamentary Forum that was held in Mauritius end of June.

Zimbabwe's representatives to the SADC Parliamentary Forum include senators; Tambudzai Mohadi, Dr Samuel Mukanduri and Monica Mutsvangwa, all of Zanu-PF, Innocent Gonese from the MDC-T and Jasmine Toffa from the MDC.
