Air Zimbabwe will resume commercial flights on the Harare-Kariba-Victoria Falls route starting this August.

The airline will service the route with its 52-seater MA60 plane in a development that is expected to ease business and tourism travel.

Air Zimbabwe Manager - Sales and Marketing, Mr Christopher Kwenda confirmed that a consultative meeting between the airline's representatives and stakeholders in the tourism industry was held on Wednesday in Kariba where proposals were made to have three flights per week on the routes.

He however said consultations are yet to be made with principals on the proposals.

Coordinator of the Kariba Tourism and Business Indaba, Mr Cephas Shonhiwa also confirmed the development.

Air Zimbabwe last serviced the Harare-Kariba route in 2007.

The airline has been operating flights between Harare and Bulawayo, and Harare and Victoria Falls using a 50-seater Embraer and Boeing 737.

It reintroduced flights between Harare and Johannesburg in May last year after leasing an A320 airbus.
