The Minister of Energy and Power Development Dzikamai Mavhaire said the government will continue fighting to transform the economy and emancipate the indigenous people economically.

The new economic liberation that is being championed by the Zanu PF led government requires every individual to play a part, and is premised on increased production capacity ranging from the agricultural sector to other critical sectors that are the back bone of the country's economy.

Addressing villagers in Chipinge who converged at Mr and Mrs Mufandaedza's homestead, the overall winners of the Zanu PF Chipinge District Field Day, Minister Mavhaire, who is the Zanu PF Secretary of Production and Labour, said people should move away from the dependency syndrome and become more productive.

He said gone is the era of sloganeering alone without any meaningful production as the new economic war requires every individual to play a part.

Mavhaire, who was being accompanied by the Minister of State for Manicaland, Chris Mushohwe, and the Zanu PF Manicaland provincial chairman Ambassador John Shumba Mvundura said after successfully waging the war of liberation focus has been shifted to an economic war to emancipate the people economically.

He said the government has already started to realise some of the fruits of the economic liberation, through the ethanol project in Chipinge district with $8 million being saved every month due to the reduction in the petroleum import bill.

Speaking at the same occasion, Ambassador Mvundura bemoaned lack of agricultural land in Chipinge and said the party will look into the issue to ensure that youths and women also benefit from the land reform programme.

The Zanu PF Chipinge district saw several farmers walking away with prizes for excelling in farming.

The party through the ZIM ASSET blueprint is targeting to create food security and eradicate poverty.

A bumper harvest is expected this year following good rains experienced in the country.
