A MAN from Zaka allegedly stripped naked before feigning madness after being caught red-handed, stealing money from a 10-year-old boy at Jerera Growth Point.
Appearing before Zaka resident magistrate Ms Constance Mutandwa last week, Onismo Muzongoni (27) of Zvinamano Village under Chief Nhema, pleaded not guilty to a charge of plain robbery last week.
He was remanded in custody to Friday for trial.
The State, represented by Douglas Mapholisa, said that on an unknown date but sometime last month, Muzongoni allegedly pretended to be mad after it dawned on him that he had been spotted robbing a Grade Four pupil at St Anthony Primary School.
Muzongoni allegedly hid the money in his underwear after which he acted as if he was mad before stripping naked.
The man's victim had cried, thereby attracting the attention of other people who approached him to inquire what had gone wrong.
After the boy narrated the ordeal, Muzongoni was arrested by police from Zaka.
