Deputy Home Affairs minister Ziyambi Ziyambi says government is working on the enactment of the Whistle Blower Protection Law to protect those who report corruption.
"Zimbabwe is a signatory to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption and it is the first global legally binding international anticorruption instrument," Ziyambi said.
"The 71 articles which are divided into eight chapters require that state parties implement several anticorruption measures which may affect their laws, institutions and practices.
"The Whistle Blower Protection Law is one such measure which will ensure that a person, who expresses misconduct, alleged dishonest or illegal activity ongoing in an organisation or any such place is protected against reprisals from related individuals and organisations."
Ziyambi said his ministry through the Anti-corruption Commission was still working towards the enactment of the Whistle Blower Protection Act.
"Consultations are on-going to ensure that the final product is solid enough to protect those who bring to surface vital information on corruption and any other forms of crime.
"We are giving Act or Bill, the urgency that it deserves but we have to balance out the consultations that we need to ensure that we have an all encompassing legislation.
"So, that is the process that we are doing, we are pretty much aware that we have to do it with the urgency that it deserves."
