Mum undresses and sleeps with boyfriend in front of child

29-year-old Nyasha Karonga, a married woman from Dangamvura, Zimbabwe, allegedly took off her clothes and slept with her boyfriend in full view of her 10-year-old daughter.
She was found guilty of contravening Section 7 of the Children's Act and ill treating her daughter.
Mutare provincial magistrate Mrs Luce-Anne Mungwari in her judgment ordered Nyasha, who works at a local salon, to perform 210 hours of unpaid work at the Mutare Magistrates' Court.
Mrs Mungwari heard that Nyasha ill-treated her daughter by making her perform all the household chores, practising promiscuity in her presence and prohibiting the child from going to school in order for her to attend to the household chores.
The girl testified on camera and narrated how her biological mother rejected her in front of her boyfriend, saying she was not her child and how she missed school because her mother would task her to attend to household chores.
Her biological father, John Feruka (34), also testified and corroborated the child's testimony.
The girl's teacher stated in court that the former would always miss school every two days in a fortnight and was always a late comer because of the household chores as well as taking care of her siblings.
Nyasha's husband, John, who works at the Roman Catholic Holy Trinity Church, revealed that their 12-year marriage had irretrievably broken down.
He described Nyasha as an irresponsible mother who offered nothing good to their three children.
The couple went separate ways in June 2013 when Nyasha took away matrimonial property and left a one-page letter thanking John for the time they "shared".
John was accompanied by his daughter.
He added that he had since applied for custody of his two other children aged three and five who are still under the guardianship of Nyasha.
