UK names its new ambassador to Zimbabwe

The United Kingdom has designated Catriona Laing as its new ambassador to the Republic of Zimbabwe.
She will succeed Ms Deborah Bronnert, who will be transferring to another post at the Foreign Office, a statement said Wednesday.
A renowned economist, Catriona Wendy Campbell Laing (CB) has served in different capacities, spending much of her career in Africa including serving Botswana, Kenya, Sudan and Somalia.
Ms Laing is expected to assume duties in Harare in September 2014.
