A self-proclaimed prophet who is a leader of an apostolic sect allegedly raped a female church member while they were praying in the bush.
Maphio Mateyo from Guni Village in Tokwe Murkosi, appeared before Gweru magistrate, Florence Nago to answer to a charge of rape.
He pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody to August 5 2014 for trial.
It is the state's case that on May 27, the complainant (name withheld) was praying in the bush with Mateyo in headman Bangure's area in Chirumanzu.
Mateyo is alleged to have told the complainant in one of his prophesies that she had a problem with her stomach.
He allegedly then took some cooking oil and started praying while holding the oil container.
Mateyo is alleged to have performed his "special prayers" as if under the influence of the Holy Spirit and opened his trousers to put some drops of cooking oil on his private parts.
He then ordered the complainant to lie down telling her he wanted to insert his manhood in the complainant's privates so that the cooking oil would enter her stomach.
The court heard that Mateyo assured the complainant her stomach problem would be solved once the oil entered her body through her private parts.
Mateyo allegedly went on to have sexual intercourse with the complainant.
She reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of Mateyo.
