Prophet sodomise churchmate

A SELF-PROCLAIMED prophet who allegedly sodomised a churchmate three times during night vigils at a shrine has appeared in court.
Josphat Chirunga (28) of Nekati Village under chief Chikwaka in Goromonzi slept with the complainant on cold nights after the complainant requested to share blankets with him.
Chirunga pleaded not guilty to three counts of sodomy when he appeared with his lawyer Mr Godfrey Mapaya before Murehwa magistrate Mr Shingirai Mutiro.
He was remanded out of custody to September 9 on US$50 bail. As part of his bail conditions, Chirunga was ordered not to interfere with state witnesses and report once every Friday to the police.
The State alleges that on May 15 this year at around 1:30pm, the complainant proceeded to Nherera Village where he intended to spend some days fasting and praying at their worshipping shrine.
In the evening of the same day, the complainant did not have any blankets with him, it is alleged.
He then decided to approach Chirunga since it was cold and the two allegedly shared the same blankets and slept. Whilst asleep, Chirunga reportedly reached for the complainant and started caressing him all over the body. He further went on to lower the complainant's trousers at the shrine and abused him, the court heard.
Afterwards, Chirunga sodomised the complainant on two other occasions.
