Tsvangirai in London

The Movement for Democratic Change national spokesperson, Douglas Mwonzora, on Saturday said the party leader Morgan Tsvangirai is in London.

Mwonzora said Tsvangirai will address a meeting organised by Chatham House on the state of the opposition in Zimbabwe.

"The will take this opportunity to set the record straight on what has gone on in the MDC. Effectively the rebellion engineered by Zanu PF and the state agents and poorly fronted by the so-called Renewal Team has been crushed. The people of Zimbabwe have thrown their weight behind Tsvangirai and his leadership as evidenced by massive attendances at the MDC rallies and meetings," he said.

Mwonzora also said: "currently the MDC is preparing for its crucial congress due in October this year. This congress will see the election of a new leadership and the amendment of the MDC constitution designed to strengthen the Party as a change agent. It will also see the crucial ideological reorientation of the party with policies designed to remove Zimbabwe from the current economic,social and political quagmire it has been put into by ZANU PF and Mugabe. Another outcome of the congress will be a roadmap to victory come the next election,"

"The MDC remains the only party with the political stamina to defeat Zanu PF and the evil system it has superintended over," Mwonora said.
