The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Dr Obert Mpofu, has refuted allegations that he solicited for a $10 million bribe from Lovemore Kurotwi.

Minister Mpofu was testifying in the $2 billion fraud trial at the High Court in Harare on Monday.

Under cross examination from Chief Law Officer Chris Mutangadura, the former Mines and Mining Development Minister also accused prominent human rights lawyer Ms Beatrice Mtetwa of choreographing the drama for the benefit of the media.

He said Kurotwi never told the solicitation issue to President Robert Mugabe as he alleges, as doing so would have cost the minister his job.

Dr Mpofu vented his fury at both Kurotwi and former Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation boss Dominic Mubayiwa, saying he can offer the two jobs, as he has been in successful business for a long time.
