The Tendai Biti-led rebels have officially adopted the orange colour as the party's official colour.

Jacob Mafume, spokesperson for the renewal team, told a news conference after a national working committee meeting at the weekend, that his party has adopted the orange colour.

"A lot of issues were discussed by the national working committee and among those was the adoption of a new colour. We agreed on the need of rebranding and we adopted orange," Mafume said.

"Orange is the colour of social democrats all over the world. It signals the renewal of things or ripening of a process. It signifies the dawn of a new era."

Mafume claimed Zimbabweans have warmly welcomed the four-month-old movement.

"We held successful meetings in Midlands, Harare and Bulawayo," he said.

"On Sunday, we will be in Mutare and from there on, we are going to Matabeleland North as we engage with the structures and see who is still with us.

"We now have structures in UK, Canada, Australia and USA. Many people are interested in the renewal agenda."

The renewal team spokesperson said the committee reviewed negotiations for a grand coalition.

"Negotiations are currently underway and I can't disclose anything at the moment," Mafume said.
