Police in Zimbabwe arrested a journalist for a weekly newspaper over her reporting of the arrest last week of a senior aide to Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, says her lawyer.

Trevor Ncube twitted that three police officer have just picked up The Standard editor Nevanji Madanhire and the HR Manager and are still holding Patience Nyangove. Police are reported to have refused to disclose charges against The Standard staffers.

Patience Nyangoyo had written for The Standard newspaper about the arrest on Friday of Jameson Timba, a minister in Tsvangirai's office, on charges of "undermining" President Robert Mugabe by calling him a "liar." Timba has since been released.

Her lawyer, Chris Mhike, said on Wednesday he was at Harare Central Police Station with his client.

"We have not yet been told of the the charges. But it is in connection with the story she wrote about the arrest of Minister Timba," Mhike said.
