Mugabe hosts election 'victory' party

President Mugabe will today host a function at State House to mark the first anniversary of Zanu-PF's resounding victory in the July 31, 2013 harmonised elections which condemned MDC formations to the political dustbins.
Zanu-PF romped to 'victory' with over two thirds majority in Parliament, while President Mugabe won with 61 percent in the Presidential vote.
Addressing journalists after the Zanu-PF Politburo meeting in Harare yesterday, the party's secretary for information and publicity Rugare Gumbo said the President decided that it was important to remember that historic feat.
He said a lot of entertainment had been lined up for the event.
"Tomorrow is the 31st July 2014 which marks a year since our resounding victory," he said. "It is in that light that the President has decided that to mark this historic occasion, he will host a function at State House at 2.30pm to celebrate the occasion.
"The people who have been invited to this function are Politburo members, Members of Parliament, the Harare leadership and captains of industry. There will be entertainment by some of the leading musicians around, including Sulumani Chimbetu and Jah Prayzah."
Gumbo said the party's national commissar Webster Shamu was organising the entertainment.
He said the Politburo also received a report on the developments at the Chingwizi holding camp in Mwenezi where people affected by Tokwe-Mukosi floods last year were resettled.
"We were briefed by the Minister of the province of Masvingo Kudakwashe Bhasikiti that the situation is improving by the day," said Gumbo. "Remember the last time we discussed there were only 505 people who accepted Government's offer to move to permanent residence.
"This time those who have indicated interest in going to the new settlements are 1 110, which is quite an improvement. We were happy about that and the Masvingo leadership is also happy about that."
Gumbo said a new clinic was also built by the International Organisation for Migration for the community at Chingwizi.
He said there were primary and secondary schools which were under construction at the camp.
