President Robert Mugabe said the country's security is important in nation building.
Speaking at the official graduation of 24 graduands who attained National Certificates in Defence Studies and Masters Degrees in International Relations, President Mugabe said the country's national interest including its territorial integrity is safeguarded by people who are security conscious.
"In their assimilated roles, the students would practice the formulation of security policies or conduct briefings on economic, media, defence and internal security matters," said President Mugabe.
The President also said the National Defence College will be transformed into a university next year in September.
He added that a board which will ensure the defence college becomes a university has already been identified and has begun its work.
