Deputy Justice Minister Fortune Chasi could be in trouble with President Robert Mugabe following a tirade against him by First Lady Grace Mugabe during the week.

The First Lady, addressing Zanu PF youths in Mazowe during the week said Chasi was going around attacking the first family accusing them of grabbing land in the area.

Grace built an orphanage in the area and the first family further acquired land for the construction of a university named after Mugabe.

Before the attack by Grace, Chasi was last Saturday attacked by Herald columnist Nathaniel Manheru for admitting that last year's elections were flawed before a civil society meeting.

Manheru is believed to be Mugabe's spokesperson George Charamba.

Through the column, Charamba reflects the thinking and mood of Mugabe.

"The attack by Manheru was the first sign that Chasi had fallen out of favour with Mugabe," confided a Zanu PF source.

"The attack by the First Lady was the final nail on Chasi's coffin. He could be on his way out."
