GWERU - Students at Driefontein Mission in Chirumhanzu are living in fear as a male teacher reportedly sodomised boys at the school.
This has resulted in some being infected with HIV, with others passing stool uncontrollably.
The teacher (name supplied) who is also in charge of various sporting activities has two cases pending at the Gweru Magistrates' Court which he denies.
Sources at the school told Eyeshot that a number of male students are passing stool uncontrollably as a result of repeated acts of sodomy.
He allegedly infected the students with HIV, a situation that has left villagers shell-shocked and parents fear the worst for their children.
Some teachers who spoke on condition of anonymity said the situation was appalling and they would soon approach the First Lady, Grace Mugabe on the issue.
"We have tried all we could but failed to bring him to book. The last option is to
approach the First Lady for help," one of the teachers said.
In one of the cases before the courts, the teacher allegedly offered a male student, aged 15, who resides at Nhongonhema Children's Home to sit on his lap in an overloaded bus en-route to a sports competition.
The teacher, who was seated at the back seat allegedly sodomised the boy before asking him to leave.
In another case, he allegedly had consensual sex with an 18-year-old boy, at his homestead and later gave him $2 and some food.
Sources say the teacher was warned by the school head to desist from his behaviour but he has not stopped. There are reports of several other children whom he has victimised at the school.
"He even laughs at the children who are seen passing stool at the school uncontrollably. I cannot believe that a man who recently got married could do such a thing," the source said.
The teacher got married about three months ago.
The priest in charge of the mission, Alfred Machingura helped the police apprehend the teacher who has wrecked havoc at the school where most parents are threatening to transfer their children.
Mary Gambiza, a parent was bitter against the leniency shown by the school head on the teacher in question.
"How can this school keep such a man? He should be fired because he has caused pain on many children," an irate Gambiza said.
The entire village awaits justice to take its course as they cannot take the law into their hands.
Cases of sodomy in schools are on the rise as vulnerable children fall prey to sexual predators and the case at Driefontein is a sad one as innocent boys' future has been jeopardised.
