In an apparent show of defiance, ZANU PF heavy weights went on a massive vote buying spree even after President Robert Mugabe had admonished them for engaging in unethical conduct.

Despite the President's call, huge sums of money were dished out to voters and the voting process had to drag on into the wee hours on the eve of Saturday youth elections.

Youth who spoke on condition on anonymity confessed to witnessing money exchanging hands on Friday night in the dormitories at the Harare Polytechnic where the majority of them were housed during the conference.

It is alleged the youths were given $50 each before elections and similar amounts if elections came according to plan.

Outgoing national Youth League political commissar Mike Gava said received numerous reports of vote buying involving the ZANU PF top brass.
