Undressed weed smoking intruder jailed

A DETE man, accused of entering into a 48-year-old woman's bedroom unclothed demanding sex, was on Friday jailed for nine months for the offence.

Bruce Mathema (23) of Bote township appeared before Hwange provincial magistrate Lindiwe Maphosa and pleaded guilty to unlawful entry into premises, criminal insult and possession of cannabis (mbanje).

Prosecutor Portia Musaka told the court that on July 8, Mathema left his house unclothed and forcibly entered Neli Nyambe's bedroom at around 9pm.

Mathema used a knife to force open Nyambe's house door.

He found Nyambe asleep and slipped into her blankets.

He started fondling her and she woke up and started screaming.

She switched on the light and saw that it was her neighbour Mathema and told the unclothed man to leave her house.

But Mathema refused to leave saying he would only do so if she satisfied his sexual needs.

Nyambe reported the matter at Dete police station and when cops went to her house they  found Mathema unclothed on Nyambe's bed smoking mbanje.

The cops found Mathema in possession of three twists of mbanje and arrested him.

In mitigation, Mathema begged the courts to give him a lesser sentence blaming evil spirits for his behaviour.

Mathema was sentenced to 12 months in jail, but three months were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
