A 25-YEAR-OLD Masvingo policeman appeared before a Masvingo magistrate recently charged with attempted murder after he severely assaulted his wife by crashing her head against a precast wall.
The attack left the woman in a coma and she is battling for her life at Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare.
Nicodimus Kamupanyinya, who was based at Masvingo Rural police station, allegedly bashed Prestige Jinga following a domestic dispute.
He was not asked to plead when he appeared before Mr Jabulani Mzinyathi on Friday who remanded him on $100 bail to September 16 for trial.
Mzinyathi was represented by Mr Philip Shumba of Mutendi and Shumba law firm. However, he was still in remand last Friday after failing to raise the money for bail.
Prosecutor Mr James Murambiza Kamupanyinya, said Mzinyathi had a domestic dispute with his wife on August 10 at their matrimonial home in Runyararo West suburb.
The dispute degenerated into a fight as Mzinyathi started attacking Jinga. He allegedly grabbed her by the neck and started bashing her head against the precast wall, leaving her unconscious.
